The Hearth of the Sky
🗓 Review by Dec. 8, 2026 · 46 days left
Five years ago, Finn Ashford was cast out of Skyhold for questioning the sacred ember that keeps the city in the sky. Now the Heart of the Sky is fading, the city is sinking, and the council that exiled him has summoned him home.
What Finn finds in the ember's chamber is not a dying power source but a machine doing exactly what it was built to do. Skyhold was never meant to float forever. And somewhere in the ruins beneath the city, a woman of the ground named Nira holds the other half of the instructions for bringing it down.
The council believes the ember is holy and the city must stay up at any cost. They are wrong about the first. They may be right that the descent will kill people.
The first book of the Skyhold Trilogy.
