Hello!!!

I always find the “a little about me” hard. I just sit here, staring at the screen with an expression of distaste. I am told my face wears those subtitles when I have to do it in person.

OK, so I am from the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. I spent much of my youth working in the hospitality industry and, at the age of 35, decided I needed to do more. So, back to school I went.

I had this idea that the world needed Human Resource managers with blue hair and head tattoos. I wasn’t wrong about this, but I spent my electives on a couple of sociology papers, and it changed my thinking in that world-altering kind of way.

The goal changed. My priorities changed. I understood that I needed to be elsewhere.

I shifted direction and began studying English, with the intention of moving into education. That’s still the plan...

But...

The witch came, and she was so very loud.

There were so many important things to say. So many words that needed to be said aloud.

Sticks & Stones was born.

That brings us to here, where you get to read my “a little bit about me” thought vomit.

If you had told 20-year-old Rage that she would one day be a feminist, she would have laughed in your face—mainly because she didn’t understand what that was. If you had told her she would one day write a book, she would have stolen your bottle of vodka and told you where to go.

I often think about her and wonder how I became this me.
